starting a revolution

I want to welcome you to my blog about my peaceful permaculture project. I have been interested in permaculture since I found it some years ago. I am fascinated by the vision behind it and I think growing one's own food is very empowering. My goal is to become fully self-sufficient food-wise. I am very much a DIY person and I am thrilled to learn new 'old' skills. I have never been a real gardening girl, but I have always admired my mom and aunts, as well as my grandmas for being so skillful in gardening and creating beautiful spaces in and around their homes.

My grandparents and several generations before them have been farmers in the Upper Austrian countryside right in the heart of Europe. Austria is a very small country with a temperate climate with warm to hot and wet summers and cool to really cold winters. We have four seasons and I love them all. I like observing Nature and the subtle changes that occur on a day to day basis. I am absolutely in love with Autumn (Fall). It is cool and fresh, and we can harvest from the fields and orchards. Abundance. I also appreciate the Winter time, when it is getting cozy indoors at the fireplace and covered with blankets or when going for calming walks in softly white surroundings - a time for rest and silence. Then comes Spring, and life begins anew - a miracle. It is getting warmer and the days are becoming longer again. The first blooms of the year, beautiful blossoms everywhere make this time of the year very special. May is such a wonderful month (I was born in May). And then Summer comes around and the temperature allows enjoying the warming sunshine on the naked skin. Fruit is available now and greens are growing in abundance in the gardens. A feast for the senses!

I enjoy a diet rich in fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables. I am in love with eating plants. So, now my goal is to educate myself on the topics of organic gardening, horticulture, permaculture (especially food forests), building natural shelters, recycling, water systems (re-using rainwater), solar-energy and life in and with Nature as well as living a peaceful life in community with others (human and non-human animals).

Thanks for your visit, I hope this blog will reach many interested readers and a fruitful future.
Peace,
Jasmin
